“Tamago fuwafuwa” is the simple but traditional egg dish.
Tamago Fuwafuwa is local speciality of Fukuroi-City in Japan, and it has been loved by tourists over the periods.
Why is it famous?
1. Traditional Local Dish
It is said to be the oldest egg dish on record in Japan, dating back to the early 17th century. At that time, it was the exclusive dish only served to the privileged few in power including Samurai. With reference to the literature "Tokaido Middle Kneeshito" in the Edo period and the travel book of the luxury merchandise, the tourism association of Fukuro-City was reproduced.
2. Only two ingredients are used
Egg and Dashi (a class of soup used in Japanese cuisine)
It is topped with pepper or some herbs. Some restaurants also serve arranged version with shimeji mushrooms, shrimp and sea scallops.
3. The Unique Name
The name “Tamago Fuwafuwa”, literaly means “fluffy egg”. It is really descriptive and pop.
