WHAT is it?
The island is called Aogashima, which is located in 358 km south of Tokyo. It is a volcanic island, and the least populated town in Japan with about 160 residents.
WHY is it famous?
1. Double caldera
It is unusual worldwide. Aogashima is a submarine volcano, and it has a large crater whose outer rim height ranges from 200 m to 420 m in height. It is said that the island was formed by the overlapping remnants of at least four submarine calderas. Aogashima consists of the rims of the inner and outer craters.
2.Coliseum of the Starry Sky
As there is no skyscrapers and lights on the road, you can enjoy beautiful sky with brightening numerous stars.
It is also called the mysterious island due to the fact that nobody knows since when people started to settle down there. In the island, there is no address, and internet is also unaccesible.

The flight is pretty limited, so better to book the ticket much earlier than usual.

HOW to get there?
1. Tokyo (Haneda Airport) → Hachijojima Island for 55 mins 2.Hachijojima Island → Aogashima by helicopter It takes about 20 mins. Or by boat and it takes about 2 hours and 30 mins. (However, the ship's in-service rate is about 50 to 60%)
